AD 5380 eval board

The board is the EVAL-AD5380SDZ. When I load the software, it is able to recognize the board but that's about it - I am not able to change any of the DAC outputs. I am controlling the eval board with an ADI recommended SDP-S board (EVAL-SDP-CS1Z). I also made sure all jumpers were in their default position recommended by the spec sheet. It does not look like the DAC is being programmed at all. I'm using the EVAL-AD5380SDZ and the Analog devices SDPS EVAL-SDP-CS1Z. Can you please suggest a debug process?

How read the data from eval-ad5933ebz via arduino or raspberry pi

Hello,

I am using eval-ad5933ebz for bio-impedance measurement on plant. The board comes with a software where we can monitor the impedance data and also download the data. I am wondering is there any way to receive the impedance data from eval-ad5933ebz directly via an arduino or raspberry pi without using PC. Other words, is there any python or c based source code for the evaluation board software ?

Your suggestions will be a huge help for my work. Thank you.

SPIController errors with HSC-ADC-EVALEZ and AD9671-EBZ target hardware

Hi

Followed the installation process for VisualAnalog and SPIController then connected my target hardware (HSC-ADC-EVALEZ and AD9671-EBZ) via USB which seems to install the correct drivers according to the Device Manager:

dev_mngr_hadv6_fmc.png

However starting SPIController gives the following error dialog on startup:

spi_controller_fpga_needs_to_be_programmed.png

Followed by:

spi_controller_read_test_fail.png

Same result on Windows 7 and Windows XP host PC's - any guidance will be gratefully received.

I was using the following matlab code to get rssi value

clear;
clc;
sdrdev('Pluto');
s = iio_sys_obj_matlab;
s.ip_address = '192.168.2.1';
s.dev_name = 'ad9361';
s.in_ch_no = 0;
s.out_ch_no = 1;
s.in_ch_size = 0;
s.out_ch_size = 3660;

s = s.setupImpl();
Fs = 30.72e6;
Fc = 1e6;
m=length(s.iio_dev_cfg.cfg_ch);
noIp = s.in_ch_no + length(s.iio_dev_cfg.cfg_ch);
input = cell(1, noIp);

t = 1/Fs:1/Fs:s.in_ch_size/Fs;
for i=1:s.in_ch_no
input{i} = data;
end
input{s.in_ch_no+1} = 2.4e9;
input{s.in_ch_no+2} = 40e4;
input{s.in_ch_no+3} = 18.0e2;
input{s.in_ch_no+4} = 'slow_attack';
input{s.in_ch_no+5} = 0;

output = cell(1, s.out_ch_no + length(s.iio_dev_cfg.mon_ch));

for i = 1:5
output = stepImpl(s, input);
rssi1 = output{s.out_ch_no+1};
end

s.releaseImpl();

But the value is always +ve (80 - 120)

Did anyone know what could i possibly went wrong

Compiling ad9361-iiostream

I have managed to compile ad9361-iiostream using Visual Studio 2015 it works fine
in debug mode both for the Pluto and for a Zedboard FMCOMMS4 board but when I run
the program in release mode the context call fails returning a NULL context from
iio_create_network_context(). I am using the libiio.lib from the github page.

I would be grateful for any help

If this is not the right place to ask the question please tell me where to post it.

hi,

I need a sample code for add9122, spi sample code (in c or hdl) to setup registers,

I couldn't config my dac yet .

I design a fmc-lpc board for my ML605 , but ad9122 has so many register to setup.

I need to generate a pair (I and Q) with 25 Mhz, data rate is 100Mhz.

AD8232 evaluation board

Hello,

I think i'm not the first asking this questions but I've ordered an AD8232 evaluation board and I would like to ask the following questions:

1) Would it be possible to test the board on a live subject? Maybe using a battery to supply the board, a DAQ board by national instrument to acquire signal and the PC not connected to the power line? This should be isolated by the power line and safer for the subject.

2) How can I detect signals on the pins? Which should be the best 'probe' to the small 'rings' on the evaluation boards? How can I link these small rings to real electrodes (in case question one as affermative answer).

3) Which simulator would you suggest in case I cannot test on a live subject?

Thanks

Marco

What does output on AD8232 EVAL Board Look Like?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but I haven't really seen anything that answers my question yet, so I thought I would make a post.

I recently obtained a development kit: AD8232 EVALUATION BOARD for the AD8232 Heart Rate Monitor Front End. And I have a few questions about how to start sensing with the evaluation device.

According to the development documentation:
http://wiki.analog.com/resources/eval/ad8232-evaluation-guide?rev=1391030692, the evaluation board should come pre-configured to operate in the 3-electrode mode (RA, LA, RL).

How do I get a sensing signal out of the device in the 3-electrode configuration? So far, I have left everything as is on the evaluation board and

  • Soldered three wires (not medical electrodes) to the RA, LA, RL output pins.
  • I have provided the 3.0 V supply with a battery pack.
  • I attached the three leads to a human test subject (myself) on my Right Arm (at the hand) , Left Arm (at the hand), and Right Leg (above the ankle).
  • I have probed with an oscilloscope between the pins OUT, OUTF, and OUTref -- But I do not see any appreciable signal. Sometimes I get a 60 Hz noise. Most of the time I see random noise.
  • What does the output from a human test subject usually look like?

I am wondering what else I might need to do or change to use this heart rate monitor front end.

My electrodes are just strips of 18 gauge wire, do they need to be specialized electrodes?

Does length matter (<1 meter)?

Is it acceptable to use an oscilloscope to probe the output for a signal?

Thank you for your assistance,

Gordon

Problem in powering AD8232 Single lead heart rate monitor board

Hello to everybody,

I have some problems in powering the two AD8232 boards I have recently bought from Sparkfun (SparkFun Single Lead Heart Rate Monitor - AD8232 ...): when I power it, the red led continue to randomly turns on and off, and I have to spend a lot of time in moving the board before it reamins stable; the same thinghs happen when I  plug the electrode pad jacket into the appropriate socket.
When, finally, the led is stable on the red, I notice that it fades and continue to blink when I am measuring my heart rate.
Initially I thought it was due to some false contacts on the breadboards, so I tried to solder wires on the connector (GND, 3.3V, OUTPUT, LO-, LO+) but anything changed, so I thought that or I was so unlucky I have bought two defective boards, or there are something wrong.... but was ?
Could someone be so kind to help me ?
Advanced thansk for your answers.

Davide

TX path FMCDAQ2 (r2017_r1)

Hello,

I 'm using FMCDAQ2 reference design hw R2017_R1 with no-OS (dev branch) on KC705 carrier.

The RX path (adc testmodes until data captured) seems to be correct, (automatic check of PN sequences, and I recognise the samples on the captured data.

When when I Loop back  one DAC to  one ADC (1 channel), I could'nt get out on the captured data, the pattern I put in the lut table  defined in the dac_buffer.c. (sine_lut_1 and sine_lut_2). This Lut has a size of 2 x 1024 samples, the DAC fifo has size of 8192 samples, please can you tell me what could be the problem ? The pattern I used for example 1 tone of 50 Mhz

sine_lut_1  odd samples , sine_lut_2 even samples  (total samples 2048).

Best regards

Matlab support package installs wrong (outdated) PlutoSDR-M2k-USB-Drivers.

Version 0.6 of drivers is used by the Matlab support package for the PlutoSDR.

It is not easy to tell at the time as the package name "PlutoSDR-M2k-USB-Drivers.exe" gives no idea of version level and is all you see during the install.

Version 0.6 does not work in the UK version 0.7 solves this problem. Please amend the Matlab package to ensure that the current version of the drivers gets installed. A current workaround is to install  the drivers first from the 0.7 version and tell the package installers to skip the driver install (which is currently set at install as a default).

Once these drivers are correct then the package works, however I am having a lot of problems using the SDR Matlab project other than just after reboot, reinstall the drivers, plug in the board, use the info button to check connectivity and then if it doesn't work un-plug and re-plug the board. It then works, however various hangs get encountered if you stop the simlink simulation try and make a parameter change and restart the session. A lot of the time it then shows that it can not use the usb0 pluto device because it is already in use.

Advice on how I can improve my success rate would be much appreciated.

I have made the circuit as in the figure i.e CN-0217.have attached DIP switches for both Rcal and Rfb.The values of Rcal and Rfb are same as in the circuit note.before going to the code i wanted to ask if this circuit is fine and how to check it

anti aliasing filter for an ADC

$

Hello

I have a ADC board based on AD9248 65MSPS.

I don't have any anti aliasing filter so I need to put a first-order RC filter at the input of ADC.

in the AD9248 datasheet, the default amount of R and C is 33Ohm and 22pF respectively.

but when the sampling rate is 65MHz so the RC cut off frequency should be 32.5MHz.

How should I design RC filter for the best accuracy? I have concern about settling time and LSB accuracy

hi,
I would like to connect RF output of HMC833LP6GE to the clock in (pin CLKP and CLKN) of HMC987LP5E, please recommend the interface in between them (my frequency band is 25MHz to 6GHz).

Can I use 50MHz as clk reference for HMC883?

Since the HMC987LP5E fanouts are LVPECL interface, how can I transform them into LVDS interface?

thank you.

Cost estimates for AD9371

$

I am try decide rather to use the AD9371 compared to AD9364 for cost reasons.

First of all, are there any single channel alternatives to the AD9371 in the pipeline similar to the AD9361/AD9364?

Secondly, where do we see the cost of AD9371 in three to five years compared to current levels?

I really wanted to pick the newest part to start with and wait for the cost to come down by the time I reach production,

But it will be bad if the assumptions gone wrong and the economics fall apart.

BTC Memory always greyed out

Hello,

I'm trying to get the BF592 BTC example working but I'm having an issue. Following the directions in the documentation I :

1) Start the IDDE.
2) Select a BF592 session
3) Build and load the DSP program.

But get stuck at :
4) Open a BTC Memory Window (View->Debug Windows->BTC Memory)

The option for BTC Memory under View->Debug Windows is always greyed out, unable to be selected.

My platform is: VisualDSP++ 5.1.2, Windows 7 64bit, custom BF592 board, ICE-1000

It seems like there must be something basic I'm doing wrong, but no matter which order I do things I cannot manage to open the BTC memory window.

Thanks a lot for any help you may be able to provide to get it working.

The SDP-S board connector supplies +5 V on pin5 (USB_VBUS).

I wonder if I plug this board to  ADRF6755 evaluation board  EVAL-ADRF6755SDZ do I still need to provide 5V through SMA connector?
